Wurundjeri artist Brooke Wandin, whose sound installation Wurrung dhumbunganjinu (We speak language) along the banks of the Birrarung (Yarra River) in Melbourne is returning Woiwurrung language to waters that have longed to hear their ancestral sounds. Through her careful research and community consultation, Brooke has reclaimed thousands of lost words, creating a powerful act of cultural reclamation that connects language with the places from which it originates.
