Join us for a hands-on morning of bush tucker and damper making with Aunty Jo Russell.
Aunty Jo is a First Nations woman with a deep passion for sharing culture, knowledge, and connection to Country. For more than eleven years she has been running workshops on bush tucker food and fibre, teaching others about traditional plants and their uses, and leading cooking sessions that bring the flavours and stories of native foods to life.
Aunty Jo will lead us through two hours of learning and doing:
11am–12pm — Bush tucker talk: discover the native plants and bush foods of this country, their uses, and their stories
12pm–1pm — Damper making: learn the history and tradition of damper and make your own
This is an all-ages event. Children are welcome and encouraged to join in.
Please note: Damper contains wheat flour and may contain dairy (milk and/or butter). It is not gluten-free. If you have a severe allergy, please contact us before attending.
Later that day — Nillumbik (no) Pub Sing, 1:30–3pm
Stay on for the Nillumbik (no) Pub Sing, also at Edendale, led by Nerida Kirov. The group will perform Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil. No singing experience necessary — all welcome, children included. Details and booking link TBC.
